Despite the Coronavirus epidemic and automakers having trouble in monitoring respectable sales numbers, a variety of large car releases have been observed in this dim year. SUV cars in India tend to be the latest standard and in 2020 car producers spoiled Indian purchasers with a range of options. This year we have prepared a list of 10 such SUVs.
Kia Sonet
This compact SUV was introduced a few months ago and became famous with car buyers with Kia’s full package. The Sonet ticks the right boxes with its distinctive appearance, signature cockpit, appealing riding environment and three engine options. Their crowded rear seat, often a deal-breaker for indigenous buyers, though, deceives them. It attempts to complement some of the first-ever technologies, such as the largest 10.25-inch wireless-connected infotainment system, ventilated seats, sound mood lighting, and traction modes. The Sonet’s starting price is Rs 6.72 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Gloster
MG has launched the Gloster in the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour full-size SUV category offering a 2.0-litre diesel engine in two tuned States. Its macho style, spacious interior, on-demand four-wheel-drive system, dedicative drive modes, Specialized Driver Assistant System, first-class level One (ADAS), and revised Rs 29.96 lakh starter rates (ex-showroom) have enhanced its worth. The Gloster is sold out for the year with 2 000 bookings in its kitty and a new lot is set for arriving next year.
Hyundai Creta
The famous Hyundai Creta is an ace in the mid-size SUV market, which was revised to its cousin, Kia Seltos, earlier in March this year. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with embedded cars, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, cool heads, and an integrated air purifier, to name a few, will feature the new Creta’s highlights. It is available with a range of two petrol and one diesel engine with a range of gearboxes. SUV prices begin on Rs 9.82 lakh (former showroom) and the Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and MG Hector are in competition.
Mahindra Thar
In October 2020 after years of waiting and expectation, the all-new Mahindra Thar finally broke decks. With its regular driving comfort and pragmatic cabin, both of us were surprised while preserving our overhead capability. The Thar is now more attractive and feasible than ever before, released in two avatars with new petroleum and diesel options, both automatic and manual gearboxes, and a manual 4×4 case. The new Thar is in a league of its own with not much rivalry except the Power Gurkha. The new SUV waiting time is about 7-8 months and rates beginning at Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota Urban Cruiser
The Urban Cruiser is effectively the second replenished platform in a joint partnership between the brands and Maruti Suzuki. The compact SUV also borrows a 1.5-liter Vitara Brezza petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and automated drive with no cosmetic change inside. The Urban Cruiser produces a promising car with good reliabilities for sales and service in the common compact segment of SUVs with a launch in prices at Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nissan Magnite
The Magnite is Nissan’s Indian market producer or split product. Launched earlier this month, the Magnite is an ambitious price of 4.99 lakh for the B-section SUV segment (ex-showroom). The Magnite definitely provides value for money to a price-conscious Indian customer and its competitors such as Hyundai Place, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon’s, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezzas, Ford EcoSports, and some of the popular hatchbacks such as the recent Hyundai i20 and Maruti Suzuki Swifts. The Magnite packets feature a 360% monitor, all-digital driver panel, wireless charging, and two-projector LED headlights with just two fuel and transmission options.
Volkswagen T-Roc
Volkswagen has launched the T-Roc via the CBU routes at prices at Rs 20 lakh to extend its SUV presence in India (ex-showroom). Just in one 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine packaging is the five-seater SUV available in the solid build standard of the German automaker, fast DSG gearbox and state-of-the-art safety technology. The Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass are the missing diesel engines sold by its rivals. The T-Roc is now sold in India and was exported to India in small quantities. MG Hector Plus
MG added the Hector Plus seven-seater with three powered variants in four trims to the popularity of the Hector. The Hector prices are now starting at Rs 15.69 lakh, with the base style version recently suspended (ex-showroom). The Hector has the same fancy features with a three series interface, making this SUV a much more functional one. On the drawback, an automatic gearbox is without the petrol version.
Skoda Karoq
The Karoq is mainly the T-Roc DNA cousin with the same MQB model VW platform, 1.5-liter TSI engine and just 1,000 retail units on the import route to India. The distinct designs, greater dimensions, higher length and wheelbase, excellent interior construction and additional Karoq safety characteristics are what differentiates them. That said, Karoq is also 5 lakh Rs more costly than the 25-lakh T-Roc (ex-showroom) as reported by “www.carwale.com”.
