1. Updated design
The Fortuner 2020 will feature certain changes to the exterior design of the car in comparison with the outgoing pre-face lifting model to make it more refreshing. However, we don’t expect big changes because this is just a facelift. It is anticipated that changes will take place, such as a new front fascia with a redefined grille, reworked bumper, revised headlamps, new alloy wheels.
2. BS6-compliant powertrains
Powering the updated India-spec SUV is likely to be the same 2.7-liter BS6-compliant four-cylinder petrol and 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engines currently available with the Fortuner on sale in the country. The petrol engine produces a maximum power of 166 hp with a torque of 245 Nm and can be supplied either with a 5-speed manual gearbox or with an optional 6-speed AT.

On the other hand, when equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the diesel engine is rated at 177 PS/420 Nm, while the peak torque output increases by 30 Nm when used with the 6-speed AT. It is expected that an all-wheel-drive configuration with the diesel version will continue to be available as an option, while the petrol models will probably only receive a standard 2WD setup.
3. New Features
Like the exterior, we expect that changes inside the cabin will also be minimal. The seat upholstery is likely to be new while maintaining the dashboard style. Features such as cruise control (diesel only), a touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats and seven airbags will be carried over.
