Tata Motors plans to release the production version of the new HBX micro SUV in the second half of 2021. The new model will be built on the new ALFA modular platform, which also serves as the foundation for the Altroz hatchback. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The new model will be powered by a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual and an AMT unit will be available as transmission options.

NEW MARUTI VITARA BREZZA
Maruti Suzuki will release the second generation Vitara Brezza in the third quarter of 2021. The new model will be built on a modified version of the HEARTECT platform, which will allow MSIL engineers to incorporate modern connectivity features and a more robust hybrid system. The new vehicle will compete with the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, and Hyundai Venue. The 1.5L petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system will power the SUV. HYUNDAI ALCAZAR
Hyundai recently unveiled the Alcazar 7-seater SUV, which is based on the platform of the new Creta. The new model will have a 150mm longer wheelbase than its 5-seater sibling. It will compete against the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. It will be powered by a new 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 159PS. The diesel model will be powered by a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel engine. There will be two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

In the third quarter of 2021, Mahindra will release the XUV700, an all-new 7-seater SUV. The new model will replace the current XUV500; however, the next-generation XUV500 will be a 5-seater SUV. The SUV will have modern features such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), ventilated seats, powered seats with memory functions, and so on. Skoda will launch the Kushaq mid-sized SUV in mid-2021, likely in June or July. The new model will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Nissan Kicks. The SUV will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s heavily localised MQB AO IN platform, which will also serve as the foundation for the brand’s upcoming new sedan. The SUV is available with two motor options: a 1,0 litre turbofuel engine, a 113 bhp 1.0 litre 3-cylinder petrol and a 147 bhp 1.5 litre turbofuel. Launch is scheduled for mid-2021.

Volkswagen will launch the Taigun 5-seater SUV, which will be built on the MQB AO IN platform. The SUV will be sold alongside the Kushaq and will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The SUV will be offered with the same engine and transmission options as the Kushaq, including a 113bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with MT and 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 147bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with MT and 7-speed DSG automatic.

NEW MAHINDRA SCORPIO
Mahindra will launch the next generation Scorpio SUV, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads several times. The SUV is expected to be released in late 2021 or early 2022. It will be designed and built on the new ladder-on-frame chassis that will underpin the new Thar. The new 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines will be fitted to the SUV. It could be the first model in the segment to include ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System). NEW AUDI Q3
The new generation Q3 SUV will be introduced by Audi at the end of 2021. The larger Q3 will serve as inspiration for the new model. It will expand in size, making it more spacious. Adaptive dampers, park assist, a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit digital instrument console, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system will be standard on the SUV. It could be equipped with a 2.0L petrol engine and a 7-speed DCT. The high-performance RS Q3 is also expected to be introduced by the company. The new Audi Q3 will compete against the BMW X1, Volvo XC40, and the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA.

CITROEN C21 COMPACT SUV
Citroen plans to launch locally developed products in the country in the second half of 2021. The first locally developed Citroen will be a sub-4-meter SUV codenamed C21, which has been spotted testing in India several times. It will be built on the new CMP platform, which will also serve as the foundation for a new hatchback, sedan, and mid-sized SUV. The Citroen C21 will compete with the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. The small SUV will compete with the 1.2L petrol engine, which will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
