2021 Range Rover Velar updated model launched in India at Rs 79.87 lakh

The Range Rover Velar has been updated for the 2021 model year, bringing more features, an updated infotainment system, and a more powerful diesel engine. The updated SUV is now priced from Rs 79.87 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and is only available in an R-Dynamic S trim level, with deliveries of the 2021 model already underway.

  • The price of the petrol variant has risen by more than Rs 4.50 lakh.
  • Both the petrol and diesel engines are 2.0-litre units with AWD and 8-speed automatic transmission.
  • It is still competing with the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Macan, and BMW X5.

The newest infotainment technology is composed of two 10-inch touch screens, one underneath the other on the center console. The touch screen is for infotainment, but the bottom is for climate control. In addition, they are AI-enabled with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity features.

New features are the high-quality meridian sound system Range Rover Velar, four-zone climate controls, a leather cover, a digital instrument cluster, a 14-way, adjustable front seat (with driver’s seat), and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Starting with the mechanicals, the Velar now has a more powerful diesel engine. While the new engine is still a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, it now produces 204hp, up from 180hp, while torque remains unchanged at 430Nm. The new model also has mild-hybrid technology.

What’s new in the 2021 Range Rover Velar?

The petrol engine is the same 250-hp turbo-loaded unit with 2.0 liters. Both engines are standard and all-wheel drive coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The other remarkable mechanical change to the luxury SUV is to include an air suspension to improve the driving quality of the SUV.

The Velar is moving to the cabin with the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system from Jaguar Land Rover. A 360-degree camera is another new technology offered – it used to have a rear photo, active road noise cancellation, and a cabin air ionization filter PM 2.5.

2021 Range Rover Velar: Competitors

The updated Rover Velar Range will continue to compete with luxury SUVs such as the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes GLE Coupe, and the BMWX6.
