Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG: engine
The 1.0-liter K10C engine, which is exclusively available with a 5-speed manual transmission, powers the Alto K10 CNG just as the recently released S Presso CNG and Celerio CNG. The new engine produces 65 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque when running exclusively on gasoline, but just 57 horsepower and 82 Nm when running on compressed natural gas.
The Celerio CNG, which is now the most fuel-efficient CNG vehicle, has a fuel economy rating of 33.85 km/kg, and Maruti thinks the new Alto K10 CNG can match it. However, it is 1.75km/kg less than the Celerio CNG. Compared to the S Presso CNG, this rating is 1.12 km/kg higher. The suspension configuration has reportedly been re-calibrated, according to the manufacturer, to enhance the Alto K10 CNG’s overall ride quality, comfort, and safety.
The naturally aspirated petrol engine has been modified to operate on CNG and now produces 56 Bhp and 82 Nm. The same engine generates 65 Bhp0-89 Nm when run on petrol. In comparison to vehicles equipped with aftermarket CNG kits, the CNG-powered version of the Alto K10 has a factory-installed CNG kit, making it more dependable, long-lasting, secure, and hassle-free. The Alto K10 CNG is covered by a stock manufacturing warranty. The Alto K10 is one of India’s most fuel-efficient CNG-powered cars with a fuel efficiency rating of 33.85 km/kg.
The Alto K10’s CNG tank is located in the boot, which severely restricts the amount of luggage that can be carried. A rooftop carrier may be fitted by owners who desire to transport a lot of luggage. Notably, the Alto K10 CNG’s suspension has been reinforced to support the added weight, and several other engine components have undergone the necessary modifications to ensure the vehicle runs smoothly and dependably on CNG. The vehicle also has a switch positioned on the dashboard that enables the driver to convert between petrol and CNG fuels without any interruption.
Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, says the following about the Alto K10 CNG:
The Alto brand has served as a representation of how Maruti Suzuki has changed in response to changing consumer demands. Due to its exceptional fuel efficiency, we are confident that the Alto will continue to be the best-selling car in the nation for another 16 years after the introduction of the S-CNG model. I’m happy to report that we’ve sold more than a million S-CNG cars so far, which has reduced CO2 emissions by over a million tonnes. Our eco-friendly technology will become even more widely used with the addition of S-CNG to the well-liked Alto K10.
In order to accommodate Indian driving conditions, our S-CNG range was specifically created, developed, and built at our facilities.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 CNG: Features and design
With the exception of the S-CNG emblem at the back, the Alto K10 CNG has the same exterior appearance as its petrol-powered sibling. The 55-liter CNG tank that the manufacturer installed in the hatchback’s boot decreased the amount of storage available.
The inside of the Alto K10 CNG is the same as the similar VXi trim of the petrol model and includes the same amenities. A speed- and impact-sensing auto door lock, a gear shift indicator, a 2-Din SmartPlay music system with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB ports, and more are featured. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and seat belt reminders.

But the CNG version of the affordable hatchback also faces competition from other Maruti models, including the S Presso CNG and the Alto 800 CNG, both of which cost 5.03 lakh rupees.
Maruti Suzuki will introduce the Grand Vitara CNG, a new CNG-powered vehicle, in the upcoming months. The Grand Vitara SUV, which is Maruti Suzuki’s current top model, is available with both a gasoline mild hybrid and a gasoline strong hybrid drivetrain. With the petrol mild hybrid engine, CNG will be an option. The Grand Vitara Mild Hybrid will offer the CNG option in both manual and automatic versions.
