Mercedes-Benz India has unveiled the all-new Mercedes-AMG C 43, which comes with a starting price of Rs 98 lakh. Since the Mercedes-AMG C 43’s introduction, the German premium brand has expanded its lineup to include nine AMG vehicles in the country. Concurrently, the brand has taken advantage of the opportunity to present the GLE makeover to India.

The Mercedes-AMG C-43 takes the position of the BMW M340i and Audi S5.

A new 408-horsepower mild hybrid drivetrain powers this Sportback.

The AMG C-Class comes with various AMG-specific upgrades.

C 43 Mercedes-AMG: Powertrain and Dynamics

Its powerplant is the most noticeable change, though there are a few other changes from the model that was previously offered for sale in India. The 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with an electronic turbocharger has replaced the 3.0-liter, turbocharged V6 engine that produced 362 horsepower.

The new engine generates 408 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque; the 48V mild hybrid system adds 14 horsepower to that. Using Merc-AMG’s 4MATIC drive technology, a nine-speed automatic transmission with “Race Start” capability provides power to all four wheels. The system is rear-wheel biased, though, sending 69% of the energy to the rear axle and 31% to the front axle. There is a claimed 4.6-second, 0-100 kph time.

Mercedes-AMG claims that in addition to adding a redesigned front axle and AMG Ride Control suspension with double wishbones up front and adaptive dampers and multi-links down back, the chassis has undergone extensive revisions. A notable mechanical feature is the use of rear-wheel steer. The new 370mm steel discs with four-piston calipers up front and the 320mm steel discs with single-piston floating calipers at the back are said to have enhanced braking performance. To make the C 43 sound more like an AMG, the exhaust is also altered.

Mercedes-AMG C 43: its exterior and the interior

The Panamericana grille with its vertical slats is the most noticeable modification on the C 43, which is typical of the AMG breed and has several other alterations over the ordinary C-Class sedan. Previously exclusive to AMG’s 63 series, the grille is now visible on a number of 43 vehicles. Additional modifications include gloss-black wing mirrors, big air intakes with black accents on the front bumper, and adaptive LED headlights with a single DRL.

The updated AMG C 43 maintains a consistent side profile with subtle enhancements, featuring new ‘Turbo Electrified’ badges, thicker side sills, and standard 18-inch alloy wheels. These elements contribute to a sportier aesthetic without significantly altering the overall side view of the vehicle. The inclusion of distinctive badges reflects the integration of advanced turbocharged electrified technology.

Moving to the rear of the vehicle, the AMG C 43 showcases quad tailpipes and a rear bumper with a diffuser, emphasizing not only a sporty appearance but also improved aerodynamics. The four tailpipes add a touch of performance flair to the vehicle’s design, suggesting the potent capabilities of the AMG-tuned model. The rear diffuser enhances aerodynamic efficiency, a critical factor in high-performance vehicles.

Buyers have a range of choices when it comes to the exterior finish, with seven metallic paint options available. Additionally, for those seeking a more personalized touch, Mercedes-Benz’s Manufaktur customization arm provides three additional options, allowing customers to tailor the appearance of their AMG C 43 to their preferences.

Inside the cabin, the AMG C 43 maintains a similarity to the standard C-Class, with a few distinctive features that highlight its performance-oriented nature. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 11.9-inch touchscreen system showcase AMG-specific digital graphics, providing a visual indication of the vehicle’s high-performance capabilities. The AMG-themed leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, sports seats, pedals, and red seat belts further reinforce the sporty and dynamic character of the AMG variant.

Some notable features within the cabin include Mercedes-Benz’s intelligent auto headlights, known as Digital Light, which contribute to enhanced visibility and safety. The audio experience is elevated with a 710W, 15-speaker Burmester system, offering premium sound quality for an immersive driving experience.
