What Makes the Mahindra XUV700 Different from the Mahindra XUV500?

by Navyatha Sandiri

The Mahindra XUV700’s latest SUV, promises to be far more premium and powerful than its spiritual successor, the Mahindra XUV500. Let’s compare their features, dimensions, and specifications to see how far the XUV700 has advanced over the XUV500.

Overview of XUV700 vs XUV500

Exactly a year ago, Mahindra lifted the covers off the second-genre Thar, and now at a price that was squandering for all, the local UV expert finally introduced the greatly anticipated XUV700. Although the full price list is not yet reported, some variants cost 11.99 lakh Rs — 14.99 lakhs, Ex-showroom, Delhi. At that pricing point, the new product is cheaper than the XUV500, which can be purchased on Rs 15.55-20.07 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Obviously, the target audience is the same for both of these models and so we chose to put them together to discover out who would purchase what. In that respect, let us begin our comparison of Mahindra XUV700 versus XUV500

The total length of the XUV700 and wheelbase are 110 mm and 50 mm longer than the XUV500. However, as compared to its predecessor the width and height of the XUV700 are unaltered. Note that the height of the XUV700 is compared to the XUV500 without roof rails.

The XUV500 is equipped with a couple of big headlamps on the front, stylized DRLs, and fog lights. The rear half is provided with two triangular backlights and an almost flat door. It is interesting, in a contrast to the 17 cups in XUV700, that it is available with 18-inch dual-pit alloy wheels.

Features and Interior

The XUV500 comes with all of its features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Touch Screen Infotainment, automated climate control, one-pane sunset, cruise control, multi-info analog gauges, ambient lighting, and a tuned Arkamys system.

The XUV700 is equipped with all this together with a 10.25″ (running on AdrenoX Mahindras new UI) bigger infotainment system, a full 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 3D sound system with 12-speaker Sony, power driver memory setting and high-beam LED headlamps.

The latest SUV from Mahindra is also fitted with driver support technologies such as lane support, auto braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Safety Features

Both SUVs come with an amazing set of safety features. The XUV700, on the other hand, has an additional airbag (total – 7), a 360-degree camera, and a blind-spot monitor.

Petrol Engine

Prior to the implementation of BS6 emissions standards, the XUV500 was available with a 2.2-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 140PS and 320Nm. The XUV700 now has a smaller 2-liter turbo-petrol engine. It does, however, produce 60PS and 60Nm more than the XUV500’s motor.

In addition, unlike the XUV500, the XUV700 is available with both manual and automatic gearbox (which will be available soon). However, given the higher performance of the newer engine, the claimed fuel efficiency may be significantly lower than that of the XUV500.

Diesel Engine

The power and torque outputs of the base-spec MX diesel in the XUV700 and the XUV500 are identical. It’s simply that the former can only be acquired with a manual transmission, but the latter may also be bought with an automatic transmission.

However, if you choose the AdrenoX (AX) option, which will be available soon, the 2.2-liter diesel engine in the XUV700 produces 30PS and up to 90Nm more torque than the XUV500. This XUV700 version’s engine will be available with manual and automatic transmissions, as well as front-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains “as read and reported by www.91wheels.com”.

However, before the BS6 standards were implemented in April 2020, the XUV500 was also available with an all-wheel drivetrain.
