MG Astor powertrain options
The MG Astor is powered by two petrol engines. The first is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine of 1.5 liters that delivers 110 hp and 1Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual or eight-speed CVT automatic transmission.
MG Astor: Variant Specifics
The MG Astor is available in four trim levels: Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp. The 1.5-liter petrol engine with manual transmission will be available on all styles, but the CVT automatic transmission will not be available on the base Style model. The other engine is a 1.3-liter 10 HP 220 Nm three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission with torque converter. The 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine will only be available in the first two trim levels.
MG Astor: exterior design
The model for India The MG Astor is based on the facelifted ZS SUV sold in other markets, and while it resembles the ZS EV, it has its own distinct personality. The Astor overhauled the LED headlights and rear lights with new, more stylish LED light signatures.
While the majority of the design is similar to the global-spec ZS SUV, the front and rear bumpers have been tweaked for a sportier look, and the India-spec model is the only one with a ‘Celestial grille.’ The outwardly radiating pattern on the grille with chrome studs is very appealing. The Astor comes with two-wheel choices available for its 17-inch alloy wheels, and – in pretty standard MG fashion – there are badges everywhere.
The interior and features of the MG Astor
The dashboard design appears to be similar to that of the ZS EV at first glance, but there are some differences. The display diagonal of the infotainment system has been expanded to 10.1 inches and now contains a Jio eSIM for connected car functions. What’s really impressive about the interior is how much effort MG put in to make it high-quality and classy. There are numerous soft-touch materials with brushed aluminum accents that contrast nicely with the interior colors. Speaking of interior color combinations: The Astor is available in three colors: Two-Tone Sangria Red, Two-Tone Iconic Ivory, and Tuxedo Black.
The Astor’s interior’s main draw, however, is the robot-like device that sits on the dashboard and serves as your in-car personal assistant. It responds to your voice commands with animated emoticons and answers questions from online sources. The system is powered by Wikipedia and includes a number of local apps. Some may find it appealing, while others may find it gimmicky.
The Astor also has Level 2 ADAS capabilities that use a camera and radar to perform functions such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and others. The ADAS features, on the other hand, are an optional extra, with prices to be announced later.

A 7-inch digital instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, electric parking brake, tire pressure monitor, 360-degree camera, heated wing mirrors, steering weight adjustment with driving modes (normal, urban, dynamic), and a panoramic sunroof are among the notable features on top-spec trims. Six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESP, traction control, hill start, and descent control, and rear disc brakes are standard, in addition to ADAS functions on higher-spec variants.
MG Astor’s Indian rivals
In MG’s SUV lineup, the Astor is positioned below Hector. Its 4.3-meter length places it squarely in the middle of the midsize SUV segment, alongside the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun as read and reported by www.carwale.com.
