Tata Motors has decided to expand its lineup in the country with the introduction of the Punch subcompact SUV. The micro-SUV is available in four variants: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. The Punch is the company’s first product based on the ALFA architectural style.
The following are Tata Punch’s top feature highlights:
Exterior
The Tata Punch is a true charmer, with SUV styling elements such as cladding on the doors, the signature humanity line, bold wheel arches, and sill cladding. The Punch sub-compact SUV is available in seven single and dual-tone colour options, depending on the variant, including Orcus White (optional black roof), Daytona Grey (optional black roof), Tropical Mist (optional black roof), Atomic Orange (optional black roof), Meteor Bronze (optional black roof), Tornado Blue (optional white roof), and Calypso Red are some of the available colours (optional white roof). For easy entry and exit, the car has doors that open to 90 degrees. The rear profile comes equipped with eye-catching LED taillights.
The top-spec Creative variant has 16-inch wheels, while the rest have 15-inch wheels. Furthermore, only the top-spec variant gets projector headlights and LED DRLs. The Tata Punch has an approach angle of 20.3 degrees and a departure angle of 37.6 degrees, which ensures a smooth passage over rough terrain. In addition, the vehicle has a 22.2-degree unladen ramp over angle. The ground clearance on the micro-SUV is approximately 187mm.

Interior
The Punch has premium upholstery with a tri-arrow design, as well as a dual-tone dashboard layout. Furthermore, the vehicle receives body-coloured air vents and a D-cut steering wheel to improve the interior design. In terms of convenience, the vehicle has a flat floor at the back to give the occupants a sense of space. Depending on the variant, the Punch comes with leather steering and gear knobs, automatic climate control, a push start/stop button, auto-fold ORVMs, and a rear-seat armrest. It also has a height-adjustable driver seat and a cooled glove box for extra comfort.
The Punch, according to the company, has over 25 utility spaces and large 366-litre boot space. The Pure variant’s Rhythm pack adds a floating 3.5-inch infotainment screen, four speakers, and steering audio control. The Adventure variant’s Rhythm pack includes a seven-inch Harman infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two tweeters, and a rear camera. The Accomplished variant’s Dazzle package includes 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, and black tape on the A-pillar. The iRA pack is available as an option on the Creative variant, and it includes the IRA connected car technology.
The Punch also has a seven-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers (four speakers and two tweeters), a seven-inch coloured TFT, USB ports, voice recognition, and voice alerts for driver assistance, depending on the variant.
Engine
The Tata Punch is powered by a new-generation 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine with 84bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. This engine is available with a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT. This micro-SUV has two engine drive modes (Eco and City) to accommodate different driving styles. Interestingly, the AMT option receives the segment’s first ‘Traction-Pro Mode,’ which is especially useful when one of the wheels becomes stuck in mud or on low traction surfaces. Furthermore, for added convenience, the vehicle includes cruise control and an Idle Start Stop mode, which automatically turns off the engine at traffic lights and stops to improve fuel efficiency.

Safety
The Global NCAP recently awarded the Tata Punch a full five-star rating for adult protection and a four-star rating for child occupant protection. The micro-SUV has the segment’s first Brake Sway Control, which reportedly detects the tendency of instability during abrupt braking before the ABS kicks in to prevent the vehicle from swaying from the driving path.
Among the safety features are dual airbags, ABS with EBD and corner safety control, front fog lamp with cornering function, child seat ISOFIX anchor points, parametric alarm system, reverse parking camera, tyre puncture repair kit, and driver and co-driver seat belt reminders “as read and reported by www.carwale.com”.
