‘Kia KY’ is the internal codename for the automaker’s future three-row vehicle. The brand has now confirmed that the production-spec KY will be unveiled on December 16th. The SUV’s test mule has already been sighted on Indian land and in the vicinity of the company’s South Korean factory. Kia is keeping the specifications of the forthcoming SUV under wraps. However, certain information about the KY has surfaced, and they are listed below.
The new model, according to Kia, would be a cross between an SUV and an MPV and will be based on the current-generation Seltos. This suggests the forthcoming vehicle will borrow styling ideas from the company’s SUV lineup. The model’s prototype has also been seen testing on Indian roads. The test mule has an upright attitude, dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, plastic cladding around the wheel arches, and an electric sunroof, despite being fully shrouded in black sheets. Kia will lengthen the Seltos’ 2,610mm wheelbase and length to accommodate the third-row seats. In India, Kia recently patented the name ‘Carens,’ which could be utilized for the forthcoming model.
Crossover-like styling
Production-speculative design A bold suite will be followed by Kia KY. The test mule has a Seltos-like style and a Carnival-inspired outline for 2022. The KY is expected to have an elevated bonnet for additional prominence. The dashboard will be similarly futuristic on the inside, with a bevy of goodies onboard. Three rows of chairs will be available, with 6- and 7-seater configurations.
The Seltos will provide the powertrains for the future six/seven-seat vehicle, which will include a 1.5-liter normally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. It is planned to be available with both manual and automatic transmissions, and the power output will most likely be the same as the Seltos SUV.
The new Kia model will be introduced in early 2022, with the official reveal scheduled for December 16, 2021. After the Seltos, Sonet, and Carnival MPVs, this will be Kia’s fourth model in India.
