The Jimny has received the positive response that Maruti had hoped for, with the 4×4 SUV receiving over 700 orders per day. The high demand has resulted in orders totaling around 16,500 units, which is not surprising given how well its main rival, the Mahindra Thar, has been received and continues to be received. In fact, the Thar had no main rival when it was first introduced, and as a result, its order books grew much faster than the Jimny’s.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be manufactured in Gujarat. The three-door Jimny is already produced at the plant for international markets. Because of the high demand in the Indian market, the new Jimny is likely to have a long waiting period.
The all-new five-door Jimny has long been anticipated in the Indian market. It keeps the boxy design and has seating for five people. While Suzuki already sells the Jimny in international markets, the Indian market will only get the five-door version, which will appeal to mass-market buyers. It is, in fact, an extended version of Jimny’s three-door model.
Maruti Suzuki has only one 4X4 vehicle.
The Suzuki AllGrip Pro system is available on the new Jimny five-door. The Jimny’s four-wheel drive technology makes it possible for it to travel through rough terrain. In India, it will be the only model in the Maruti Suzuki lineup with a 4X4 system. The Gypsy’s market niche will be filled by the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
In addition to 2H and 4L modes for low-range transfer gear, the new AllGrip Pro has on-the-fly 4H four-wheel drive. Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed the precise low-ratio gearbox ratio. Yet when it’s activated, the torque production is amplified many times.
The new Jimny five-door has a length of 3,985 mm, a width of 1,645 mm, and a height of 1,720 mm. The SUV has 210 mm of ground clearance, which is a significant amount. The Jimny also has an approach angle of 36 degrees, a ramp break-over angle of 24 degrees, and a departure angle of 50 degrees. The Jimny is also equipped with six airbags, a brake-limited slip differential (LSD), ESP with hill hold assist, hill descent control, a rearview camera, and ABS with EBD.
The Jimny went on sale on January 12, the same day the SUV made its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo, and it comes in two trim levels: Zeta and Alpha. The Jimny’s top-spec model includes a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an Arkamys-tuned audio system, climate control, cruise control, and keyless entry. Six airbags are standard, as are ABS with EBD, hill hold, and descent control.

Jimny is spacious
The five-door Jimny’s cabin resembles the three-door model quite a bit. In the center is an infotainment system with a touchscreen. It has a Suzuki SmartPlay system with connectivity options including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Jimny also comes with remote options that display the vehicle’s status and other crucial updates on a smartphone app linked to the vehicle.
The Fronx is 3995 mm long, 1765 mm wide, 1550 mm tall, and has a 2520 mm wheelbase. The Fronx sports split grille style headlights that are mounted on the bottom bumper. With a connected LED in the back, Fronx features a distinctive tailgate design.
The 1.5-liter four-cylinder K15C Dualjet engine, which also powers the updated Ertiga, XL6, and brand-new Brezza, will power the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. When supported by a mild hybrid system, its engine produces a maximum torque of 134.2 Nm and a maximum power of 104.8 PS. Although a 5-speed manual transmission will be the default choice, a 4-speed torque converter will also be offered. In order to make the engine more suitable for off-road driving, Maruti Suzuki updated it.
Jimny’s price should be announced soon, and you can anticipate a price range starting at about Rs. 10 lakh and upwards (ex-showroom). Because of its five-door design, it will provide a more useful alternative to established off-roaders like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. Future versions of each of its competitors will have five doors, though.
