The Kia Sonet will be released in India on 18 September, details of which can be found here. Although we’re still a few days away from the launch, we’re evaluating how the Korean car manufacturer’s sub-four meter SUV stacks up against the competition in terms of specifications and features. This time, Kia Sonet is up to the Ford EcoSport.
Exterior
On the outside, the Ford EcoSport earns HID projector headlamps, LED DRLs, sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, ORVM puddle lamps, and fog lights.

Kia Sonet’s design highlights include full LED headlamps, LED drls, fog light bulbs, 16 “dual-tone alloy wheels, rear spreader LED tail lights, sun-roof accents, and red accents on various parts.
Interior
Inside, the Ford EcoSport comes with a 9-inch Sync 3 infotainment system, push-button ignition, cruise control, paddle shifters, and TPMS. Six airbags, EBD ABS, rear parking sensors, ESC and TCS are the security features of the car.

The interiors of Kia Sonet include a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen, UVO networking, LED mood lighting, wireless cooling setup, ventilated front seats, drive and traction modes, start button push, TPMS, and air cleaners. The model comes in six airbags, EBD ABS, VSM, HAS, front and back parking sensors, and a broken aid. The system is supplied as safety equipment.
Engine
The Ford EcoSport comes with 1.5-liter petrol and diesel motors. The former is able to generate a torque of 121bhp and 149Nm, and the former produces a torque of 99bhp and 215 nm. A manual five-speed transmission is offered for both models, while a six-speed torque converter automatic unit is also available for the petrol version.

The Kia Sonet is available with a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine coupled with a five-speed manual transmission which produces a torque of 81 bhp, 115Nm and a turbo-petrol engine of 1 litre with a torque of 117 bhp and a torque of 172Nm which is supplied with a 6-speed EMT unit, and a DCT of 7 speeds. A 1.5-liter diesel engine with a manual six-speed unit and a six-speed automatic unit will also be sold. The former will generate a torque of 97bhp and 240Nm, the latter will be tuned for the torque of 113bhp and 250Nm.
Over Ford EcoSport, the Kia Sonet provides various additional features as well as additional motor and transmission options. The latter is between Rs 9,60 lakh and Rs 14,10 lakh, the former between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 12 lakh. We’ll deliver our verdict before next week’s Sonet launch.
