2022 Kia Sportage SUV: what is new outside?
For the first time during the two eight-year life cycle of Sportage, Kia confirmed that it will arrive in September, but visually it will be closely related to this variant (excluding a North American and ASEAN spec). It will be separated by a tailor-made chassis tuning and a slightly revised design, exclusively built in Slovakia.
The Sportage, after the new Kia EV6, is the second production model to be developed with the new ‘Opposites United’ ethos of Kia. The relation between the Sportage and the new electric car flagship can be seen from common elements, including the distinctive ‘Boomerang’ headlights, concave paddles, swelling back arcs and prominent spoilers. Kia’s Korean, German, US and Chinese design centres conceived the project as a joint project.
The Sportage is available for the first time with a contrasting roof, while a chrome beltline is said to be producing “harmonious lines with the back spoiler which add to the car’s sports pedigree.” A new Sportage X-Line is also due, although it has not been confirmed in the UK or Europe, to be ruggeous in body style and curved roof rack.
