Mercedes-AMG A45 S India’s hottest hatchback is set to debut an absolute firecracker of an AMG car – the A45 S hatchback was launched just days before Diwali. The Mercedes-AMG A45 S made its debut in 2019 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it is powered by the world’s most powerful four-cylinder series-production engine. When it debuts in the coming days, the A45 S will be India’s hottest hatchback ever.

What information do you require about the Mercedes-AMG A45 S?
The engine of the AMG A45 S is without a doubt its most obvious characteristic. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine develops 421 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, making it the world’s most powerful four-cylinder hatchback. The A45 AMG is also available in a basic form with 387 horsepower, but Mercedes will sell the full-fledged S variant in India as a significant step up from the AMG A35 sedan.
An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, with Mercedes claiming a 3.9-second 0-100kph time and a top speed of 270kph. The A45 S’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system includes a multi-plate clutch with AMG torque control, which divides electronically controlled clutches within the rear axle to alter the amount of drive given to each individual rear wheel. With 360mm front and 330mm rear discs, as well as red-painted six-pot front and one-pot rear calipers, the A45 S boasts upgraded brakes.
Because the new A-Class is only offered as a sedan, the A45 will reintroduce the A-Class hatchback to India. The A45 S has 115hp and 100Nm more power and torque than the A35 sedan, which is already on the market.
The interior design of the cabin is mostly unchanged, with the same twin 10.25-inch monitors atop the dashboard. Upfront, the most noticeable alteration is the more aggressive sports seats.
Following the demise of the first-generation CLA and GLA 45s in India a few years ago, the new-generation A45 S will be the first of the new 45-badged vehicles to come in India.

Mercedes-AMG A45 S: Price and Competitors
The A45 S will be a CBU import, unlike the locally built A35 sedan, therefore expect costs to be significantly higher than the locally assembled AMG A35 performance sedan now on the market. Because imports are subject to a high level of customs duty, we estimate the A45 S’s ex-showroom pricing to be in the range of Rs 75 lakh-80 lakh.
In terms of competitiveness, the A45 S is in a class of its own, with no direct competitors in India, thanks to that monster of an engine. The A45 S is more powerful than high-performance hatchbacks from Mercedes’ traditional German competitors, such as the Audi RS3 Sportback, even on a worldwide scale “as read and reported by www.autocarindia.com”.
