Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) announced on Thursday that it will not have its compact SUV Vitara Brezza manufacturing at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Karnataka manufacturing plant, as per earlier decision.

The biggest carmaker in Canada said it was going to allocate some other models to be made at the Toyota Kirloskar Motor plant in place of Vitara Brezza.

However, the name of the Vitara Brezza model to be manufactured at the TKM plant, where labor is temporarily not allowing to work these days due to problems between the workers union and management, was not revealed.

Last year in March, the MSI Board authorized the production of Vitara Brezza at TKM’s Bidadi plant from 2022 onwards.

Already, according to the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki, MSI sells Vitara Brezza to TKM, which sells the model as Urban Cruiser on the domestic market after making some design changes.

TKM also receives the Baleno luxury hatchback from MSI under the same deal and sells it on the market as Glanza.

In March 2018, in the continuation of the alliance negotiations that began in 2017, Suzuki agrees to supply Baleno’s luxury hatchback and compact Vitara Brezza SUV to Toyota, while Toyota, in exchange, planned to supply Suzuki’s Corolla sedan.

Later, the two firms decided to extend the scope of their cooperation and to explore new collaborative ventures in the fields of technical development and automotive manufacturing as business development.

Under the agreement, TKM produces Suzuki models for sale in India via its own brand networks. In addition, the two companies agree to look at collaboration in the export of models created by Suzuki, including those manufactured by TKM—Indian Toyota’s arm from India to Africa and other markets through their global distribution networks “as reported by auto.hindustantimes.com”.
