Kia has unveiled the updated Kia Telluride SUV at the ongoing New York Auto Show 2022. The 2023 Kia Telluride now has updated styling as well as new tech features.
This is Telluride’s first major facelift, and the major changes are visible when looking at the vehicle from the front. The SUV gets a new bumper with a more defined lower section housing the smaller air intakes. In this area, you’ll also notice that the fog lamps are now stacked on top of each other rather than horizontally arranged, and the vertical faux inlets at the corners are more subdued in appearance.
The Telluride’s headlamps have also been updated, with each cluster now featuring two vertical elements placed side by side. As a result, the rectangular daytime running light signature has been replaced with vertical lines within each headlamp
The new face appears to be cleaner than the pre-facelift model, and this approach is carried through to the rear. There are still two-piece taillights that flow down the sides of the SUV, but they are much slimmer and have a different light signature than before. The new taillight clusters are also missing their reverse lights, which have been relocated to the bottom portion of the new rear bumper alongside the reflectors.

The rear lower apron attempts to mimic the front by creating a blocky appearance and is joined by a body-colored skid plate rather than a silver one. The model script on the tailgate is also in a new font, and the Telluride is finally getting Kia’s most recent logo design. Kia also mentions that the door garnish trim has been revised and that there are new exterior colors and wheels available.
Moving inside, we notice a new dashboard design with flatter air vents in the center. This is required to make room for the new frame integrated into the dash that houses the displays, which are two in number. Both are 12.3 inches in size and serve as both the digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen for the infotainment system (this is an upgrade from 10.3 inches previously). The only other changes inside the cabin are a new steering wheel and new interior colors “as read and reported by paultan.org”.
Kia introduces two new “adventure-ready” trim levels for the 2023 model year: the X-Line and X-Pro (both pictured here). The former includes a distinctive grille with a pattern resembling the number two in Roman numerals, as well as more robust roof rails, body-color door handles, 20-inch wheels, X-Line badges, as well as X-Line embossing on the front seatback support.
The X-Line also gains 10 mm more ground clearance for better approach and departure angles, a tow mode for improved trailering performance, and an improved traction control system. Meanwhile, the X-Pro gets the same goodies as the X-Line, but swaps out the big wheels for 18-inch units with matching Continental all-terrain tires, X-Pro badging and seat embossing, a 110-volt inverter outlet in the boot, and an increased towing limit of 2,495 kg (5,500 pounds) from 2,268 kg (5,000 pounds).
Optional equipment for the Telluride includes a digital rearview mirror with HomeLink and a smart powered liftgate with “auto close” functionality. As with the latest Palisade, digital key support is available, allowing owners to unlock and start the vehicle with compatible iPhones, Apple Watches, and Samsung Galaxy devices.
There is also an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, the Kia Access App for vehicle telematics, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, a head-up display that is now 10 inches A digital rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a smart powered liftgate with “auto close” functionality are available as options for the Telluride.

Telluride’s list of safety and driver assistance systems is also updated with two new features: Intelligent Speed Limit Assist with maximum speed sign recognition and Forward Collision-Avoidance – Junction Turning, which automatically applies the brakes if the system detects oncoming vehicles while turning left at an intersection and anticipates a collision.
The Telluride, like the Palisade, retains the same powertrain as the pre-facelift model, with a Lambda II 3.8 liter V6 GDI Atkinson cycle engine producing 291 hp at 6,000 rpm and 355 Nm at 5,200 pm. This is sent to the front or all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with up to six drive modes (Smart, Eco, Sport, and Comfort standard; Snow and AWD Lock are additions for vehicles with AWD).
