The EcoSport SE takes over the place of the Titanium as a variant just below the top-spec S. The petrol variant is priced at a premium of Rs 70,000 over Titanium, with the diesel variant receiving a premium of Rs 1 lakh. The SE undercuts the S by Rs 50,000, both in diesel and petrol iterations.

The most distinctive feature of the SE is the axling of the tail-mounted spare wheel. Instead, there’s a number plate, with a chrome slat above it. It’s also getting a new dual-tone rear bumper that’s wearing a silver applique. Ford India also offers a puncture repair kit with the SE variant as it does not have a spare wheel. It looks pretty similar to the top-spec S in terms of design.

Despite being slotted below the S variant, it retains almost everything, including an 8-inch SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, electric sunroof, illuminated glove box, footwell ambient lighting, and Ford MyKey and FordPass connected car technology. It’s missing on just ISOFIX mounts, sporty alloy pedals, a different cabin shade, and a cargo area management system, which is basically a cargo net for securing small boot items and organizing trays to prevent things from rolling around “as read and reported by www.zigwheels.com”.

It retains the 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines of the standard model under the hood. The former delivers 122PS of power, the latter pushing out 100PS of grunt. Both engines are standard paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Only Titanium + petrol has the option of a 6-speed automatic torque converter.

The addition of the SE variant could only be the final update of the Ford EcoSport before its successor arrives. Until then, it continued to compete with Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Nissan Magnite in India “as read and reported by www.zigwheels.com”.
