Tata Motors has now given the Tata Nexon EV and the Nexon EV Max the “Jet Edition” treatment, following the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari Jet editions. The Nexon EV Prime and EV Max Jet Editions are based on the top-spec XZ+ Lux trim and are priced at Rs 17.50 lakh and Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively. The Nexon EV Prime and EV Max Jet Editions have not received any equipment enhancements, unlike the other Jet Edition SUVs. Instead, the updates are simply cosmetic.

Tata Nexon EV Overview
The electric version of one of Tata’s top-selling small SUVs in India has finally been made public. Since they began making cars in India, Tata has become renowned for the quality of its construction. When assessed by Global NCAP, the made-in-India Tata Nexon received a 5-star certification for adult safety. Tata has been working on an electric vehicle (EV) technology they call Ziptron. The SUV’s battery has IP67 certification and is liquid-cooled to prevent overheating.
The battery pack is waterproof, all-weather, shockproof, and dustproof, according to Tata. The battery typically takes 8 hours to fully charge, but with the rapid charger, you can do it in just 60 minutes from 0% to 80%. Three variations of the Tata Nexon EV will be offered: XM, XZ+, and the top-of-the-line XZ+ LUX. Price for the Tata Nexon EV is predicted to be between Rs. 14 and 15 lakh.
Exterior and interior upgrades to the Tata Nexon EV and Nexon EV Max Jet Editions
In order to give it a more robust appearance, the Tata Nexon EV’s exterior will have a similar design to that of the 2020 Nexon. The air dam now has blue highlights and a mesh-like appearance due to the removal of the grille. Slim projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, cornering fog lamps, and daytime running lamps are added to the front. A tunnel recognition feature and a “follow me home” capability are also included with the headlamps.
Additionally, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are available. You could see the blue accents, 16-inch alloy wheels with diamond cuts, and a striking dual-tone roof from the side profile. The location of the charging port is next to the standard petrol filler. Clear-lens taillights, blue highlights, and an electric tailgate are included at the back.
The Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max Jet Editions, like the other three Jet Edition SUVs, are most notable for their “Starlight” dual-tone paint treatment, which has a bronze body and a silver roof. The regular SUVs’ electric blue embellishments have also all been replaced with gloss black or silver accents.
For instance, the tri-arrow parts on the bumper and the fog lamp garnish are now finished in silver, while the belt line below the window is now completed in gloss black. The ‘EV’ badge on the grille now has a dark chrome finish, and the 16-inch alloy wheels now have a new jet-black gloss.
On the inside, the golden and black color scheme is carried over. The leatherette door pads, which are typically finished in oyster white on regular SUVs, now have a granite black finish instead of the previous golden trim that is on the dashboard and door panels. The center console and the electric blue decorations around the AC vents have also been covered in black. Additionally, new golden contrast stitching is added to the oyster-white seat fabric. The word “Jet” is stitched in bronze on the front head restraints as well. However, there is no current equipment list.

The interior of the Tata Nexon EV has been redesigned and now features an off-white color scheme with blue accents all over the center console, dashboard, and other sections. The front has a center armrest and off-white leatherette upholstery. A rotary dial with the options Neutral, Drive, Sport, and Reverse has taken the role of the gear stick in the vehicle. Below the 7″ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is the fully automatic climate control.
Keyless entry and push-button start are provided for the driver, along with a multi-information display that gives important information, a leather steering wheel with multiple functions, and a wearable key that can unlock the SUV so that you do not need to carry your keys about with you. The instrument cluster consists of both digital and analog components. While the rest of the instrument cluster is digital, the speedometer is analog. Through the ZConnect app, which offers a number of services like remote instructions, finding nearby charging stations, auto diagnostics, and vehicle tracking, Tata also provides connected car capabilities.
Tata Nexon EV Safety and Braking
Drum brakes are used in the back and disc brakes in the front for braking. Antilock brakes, electronic brake distribution, and cornering stability control all contribute to safety. Reinforced steel that complies with the most recent full-frontal, side-impact, and offset impact crash requirements were used to build the body’s structure. Additionally, the driver and co-driver in the front have dual airbags, and the ISOFIX anchor points in the back seats allow for the installation of child safety seats. To simply and safely park the car, there is a rear camera and rear parking sensors.
The Tata Nexon EV and Nexon EV Max Jet Editions received no mechanical updates.
Both electric SUVs share mechanical characteristics with conventional SUVs. A 129hp electric motor and a 30.2kWh battery pack power the Nexon EV Prime, which has a 312km ARAI-certified range. Contrarily, the Nexon EV Max has a bigger 40.5kWh battery pack, a 143hp electric motor, and a 437km range that has been approved by ARAI.

Competitors to Tata Nexon EV
There are currently no direct rivals for the Nexon EV because there is only one electric SUV available on the market, the Hyundai Kona Electric, which belongs to the premium sector.
