A good and modern Tata Punch vs Maruti Swift infotainment system, even in budget segment models, can be a deal-breaker for new car buyers in today’s day and age. Over time, automakers have been able to introduce new technology, larger display sizes, and a slew of connected tech even to the hatchback segment, which remains one of the most profitable segments in the Indian automobile market.
However, Tata Motors recently ventured into the burgeoning MicroSUV space with the newly introduced Tata Punch. The Maruti Suzuki Swift, which has been on the market for well over a decade, is likely to be one of Punch’s main competitors which have been around for more than a decade. While we’ll be comparing both models soon in our detailed review, this time we’ll see how the touchscreen infotainment systems on these two models compare.

Both models have similar seven-inch touchscreen systems. The one on the Punch, however, is from Harmansourced and rides on top of the dash, which looks modern and stylish. You also have the ability to customize the screen color and set a custom wallpaper as you like. Like all recently updated models, this multimedia does not have physical buttons. The Punch Topspec is outfitted with four-door speakers and two Stack-mounted tweeters.
When it comes to the dashboard-integrated unit on the Swift, the system is well-designed. Despite the lack of personalization options, Maruti Suzuki has included vehicle and driving data in the system, which is more convenient and easy to access than the smaller MID unit in the instrument cluster. Four speakers and two tweeters are in charge of the audio.
Input ports and charging options
With a single USB port and two 12V sockets on the front, the Punch is a clear winner. While the USB and one 12V port are located beneath the air-conditioning controls, the second 12V socket is located on the center console near the cup holders.
The Swift’s USB and 12V charging ports have the same circular shape as the air conditioning controls and are located on the dashboard. Notably, neither vehicle provides charging options for rear-row passengers.
Phone mirroring/wireless connectivity and navigation
Both the Tata Punch and the Maruti Suzuki Swift have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This function, however, is not wireless and can only be accessed via wired phone mirroring. In terms of navigation, both systems provide the service via a phone-based app
Connected car technology
The Punch is fully equipped with the brand’s IRA-connected car technology. It includes features like vehicle diagnosis, geofencing, remote lock/unlock, vehicle security alerts, voice commands, and several location-based services, as well as over-the-air updates.
Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, recently launched the Suzuki Connect mobile app for Arena customers. Previously, this paid service was only available to Nexa vehicle owners. Roadside assistance, driving analytics reports, vehicle tracking, safety alerts, and vehicle information are among the connected car services. It should be noted, however, that Suzuki Connect is available as an accessory for Rs 11,900 for three years. On the other hand, it lacks features such as remote door lock/unlock, light on/off, and more.

Tata Motors will announce the pricing for the Punch micro SUV on October 20, and we expect it to be in the same price range as the Maruti Suzuki Swift and other compact SUVs.
