What to expect from the Maruti Suzuki XL6 update

Upgrades, like those seen on the facelifted Ertiga in 2022, are likely to be minor, consisting of revised grille inserts and LED headlights. Additionally, previous spy shots have confirmed that the people mover will have dual-tone alloy rims. The rest of the MPV appears to be mostly unchanged.

Interior features include automatic climate control, a start/stop push button, keyless entry, a multifunctional steering wheel, multiple airbags, a rear-view camera, and cruise control options. The vehicle will also include a large 7-inch infotainment system with touchscreen capabilities and Suzuki Connect technology.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (Marketing & Sales) Senior Executive Director Shashank Srivastava stated, “The XL6 is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that perfectly combines SUV-like dynamics with the comfort of a spacious 6-seater MPV.”

The updated XL6 should feature Maruti’s new 7-inch Smartplay Pro infotainment system, which debuted on the 2022 Baleno. It has a new user interface and is equipped with connected car technology (telematics only). The remainder of the feature set will be similar to the current model.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift 2022: new engine and transmission

The facelifted Maruti Suzuki XL6 is expected to debut the K15C petrol engine in the Indian market. This is a development of the current K15B 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, with a 10PS increase in power, bringing outputs to 115PS and 138 Nm. This engine has already made its international debut on the Suzuki Vitara, where it is combined with an electric motor. The XL6’s motor will most likely receive the mild-hybrid electrical assistance that it already has.

A more significant change is expected to be the addition of a new six-speed torque converter automatic transmission to replace the previous four-speed units in the revised XL6. This, too, has made its debut on the Suzuki Vitara, and it should be accompanied by the five-speed manual in the XL6.

In terms of safety, the upcoming XL6 facelift could include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, and engine mobilizer, an electronic stability program (ESP), a hill hold assist, and a high-speed alert system.

The new XL6, like the Ertiga, will be equipped with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The new gearbox, as well as Maruti’s, tried and tested DualJet technology, which also powers the new Celerio, Swift, and the recently launched Baleno, are expected to improve fuel economy over its predecessor.

Inside, expect new upholstery and minor trim updates, as well as an all-new infotainment system interface similar to the Baleno; however, the screen size is expected to remain 7-inch. A teaser video confirms that the XL6 will not be equipped with a sunroof.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift 2022: new features and styling

On the outside, the 2022 Maruti XL6 facelift will likely get a new grille similar to the one seen on the new Baleno. Minor changes to the bumper are expected, as well as a new set of alloy wheels. Inside, new interior finishes and colors are expected, as well as additional features such as standard climate control and a larger 9-inch infotainment system. The top variants’ safety equipment should also be upgraded to six airbags.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift prices and competitors are expected in 2022.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift should cost between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 more. Prices for the six-seater MPV currently start at Rs 10.14 lakh and go up to Rs 12.02 lakh. The XL6 competes most directly with the naturally aspirated Kia Carens variants. Similar changes to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga are expected soon.
