Tata Nexon is one of the top sellers in the country’s compact SUV market. It is significant that after Altroz, Nexon is the second Tata Motors product to receive a total five-star safety ranking in Global NCAP. On the opposite, we have the Nissan Magnite to launch shortly. Nissan has been suffering for a while with low country sales and the forthcoming Magnite SUV sub-meter is expected to re-establish sales for the Japanese automaker in India. Exterior
The Nissan Magnite features masculine elements of styling and a beefier cap which strengthens the character of the SUV. The car has large bold black grille on all sides with large chrome slats. There is an elegant LED bi-projector headlamp with light lightsabre-style indicators, along with L-shaped DRLs and LED fog lamps. Magnite sub-four metre SUV is also available in nine options – five monotones and four dual-tone colours – the Magnite SUV sub-four metres. The car would have 16-inch alloy rolling wheels with diamond-cut alloy wheels, squared wheel arches and incorporated sculpted bodyside cover, which increases the quotient style. The front and rear parts feature silver skid plate and the roof rails have a capability of 50 kg and a gap of 205 mm from the ground.
Earlier this year, Tata Motors launched the Nexon facelift in India, offering a fresh range of cosmetics and features. The new edition is now sleeker and features a chiselled appearance instead of an earlier muscular and rounded-off look. The vehicle is now fitted with a new dual-barrel projector headlamp system with incorporated tri-arrow LED DRLs. In addition, a large stash of finished piano-black and thin air inlets is now open. The lower air dam is now bigger and features a large ‘tri-arrow’ themed grille. Overall, the new Nexon is having a more complex look. The car rides on 16-inch wheels of an 8-spoke design instead of the older 5-spoke units.

Interior
Nissan maintains that the Magnite sub-four metre SUV would have best-in-class visibility and an opening angle with a high eye command position. The vehicle has a plain, all-black clutter-free theme. Any of the other best-in-class capabilities include the front row shoulder room and the rear knee room. The vehicle has 336 litres of cargo space and 60:40 divided folding rear seats. For comfort, the Magnite provides a five-degree central stack tilt for a driver-centric cockpit feel, a 10-litre illuminated glove box and a rear armrest with two cup holders and a tablet tray. Nissan’s sub-four metre SUV will offer an 8-inch full-flash touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition, the car will come with a Nissan Link, with 50+ features.
Tata Nexon has a neat cockpit interface including a new steering wheel with a smaller horn pad and premium-looking multimedia and cruise control controls. The car is now getting a fully digital instrument cluster along with an upgraded seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This time around the Nexon compact SUV is available with an electric sunroof.

SUV Engine
Two petrol engine options – B4D 1.0-liter NA, HRAO 1.0-liter Turbo – will include the future Nissan Magnite. The regular five-speed hand transmission for both engine options, while the CVT option restricts to the Turbo. At 6250rpm and a 96Nm of torque at 3500rpm, the B4D 1.0-litre NA engine produces 70 bhp. The fuel efficiency number for this version is 18.75kmpl. The HRAO 1.0 Litre Turbo with manual gearbox generates 98 bhp at 5000rpm, while the CVT delivers 152 Nm between 2200rpm and 4400rpm at 160 Nm of torque between 2800rpm and 3600 rpm. A fuel efficiency figure of 20 km2 is returned from the manual Turbo version, while a 17.7 kmpl is available from the CVT option.
The Tata Nexon facelift is available in petrol and diesel engine options. At 5,500rpm and 170Nm at 1,750rpm the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine produces 118bhp. At 4000rpm and at 1500rpm, 108bhp and 260Nm are provided by the 1.5-liter diesel engine.
