Renault Kiger launched the Kiger compact SUV in India at an introductory price of Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom). It can be picked from two motors, four versions, and six colors. The Kiger has however reached a portion of the thriller where customers can choose from a minimum of 6 to 7 models. The most recent is the Nissan Magnite, their own relative. What’s good about it?
The Kiger, like his cousin Magnite, is strategically priced at Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom). It is also available with a choice of two petrol engines and three gearbox options. The 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated engine can be fitted with a five-speed manual and an AMT unit, while the 1.0-litre Turbo petrol engine is paired with a five-speed manual and a CVT unit. Top-spec offers features such as ambient lighting, wireless charging, digital instrument clustering and outdoor LED lighting.

What’s not so good?
While buyers can choose from two petrol engines, Kiger misses the diesel powertrain that is available to most of its competitors. Also, most of the fancy features are limited to the top-specific RXZ trims. Although it is a complete new exterior design, the fascia bears a resemblance to its smaller sibling, Kwid.
The best option to buy?
Those on a tight budget can opt for an RXL trim that comes with a 1.0-litre NA engine with manual and AMT transmission options. However, the Turbo engine can only be equipped with a manual gearbox. In the meantime, buying the top-spec RXZ makes a good purchase as the ex-showroom price of the trim is well below Rs 10 lakh price bracket. It should be noted that the basic RXE trim is only available with a 1.0-litre manual engine.
