The draught notification MoRTH to launch Bharat NCAP has been accepted by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari (New Car Assessment Program). According to this initiative, vehicles in India will receive star ratings based on crash test results that take into account local laws and driving conditions. In 2016, the Bharat NCAP initiative was initially introduced. This will move the nation one step closer to becoming Aatmanirbharbharat by enabling OEMs to test their automobiles at the nation’s own testing facilities.
The New Car Assessment Program, or NCAP, seeks to increase vehicle security. With a program to inform its consumers about the crashworthiness of a new car in the US market, the USA lay the groundwork for what NCAP is today.

Later, this program changed its name to New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). There are now 9 separate New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP) in existence throughout the world. Examples, are the US NCAP, Euro NCAP, Japan NCAP, ASEAN NCAP, China NCAP, Korean NCAP, Latin NCAP, and Global NCAP.

Many new cars in India have willingly conducted crash tests at the Global-NCAP, and Tata Nexon is the first car from that country to receive a perfect 5-Star rating there.
Tata Punch, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Altroz, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV700 are the five Indian vehicles that currently hold a perfect 5-Star rating from the Global-NCAP.
Speaking about crash testing, Global-NCAP evaluates the crashworthiness of new Indian cars; we do not yet have an internal crash testing laboratory like China NCAP, US NCAP, or Korean NCAP.
In a series of tweets, Gadkari said that Bharat NCAP would work as a platform focused on the needs of the consumer, allowing buyers to choose safer vehicles based on their star ratings and encouraging healthy competition among Indian automakers. According to what he said, “Star rating of Indian automobiles based on crash tests is extremely crucial not only for the safety of passengers but also boosts the export-worthiness of Indian autos.”
Gadkari emphasized that the Bharat NCAP testing process must be in accordance with international crash test standards while taking into account the country’s current laws and that doing so will enable Indian automakers to have their vehicles assessed at their own internal testing facilities. With the goal of making India the top automotive hub in the world, he continued, “Bharat NCAP would prove to be a crucial tool in creating our automotive industry Aatmanirbhar (self-sufficient).

This development is consistent with our earlier report in which Abhay Mannikar, advisor at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), an independent organization connected to The Bharat NCAP documents were prepared, according to the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries, and the occasion was perfect for their release.
