The new genus Xenia is also rebadged and sold as an Avanza by Toyota. As we expect that the new genus Xenia will also sprout Toyota Avanza in the next genre, Daihatesu has recently been informed about plans for launching a new minivan in the industrial market of Indonesia, which might be an emerging version of the Xenia MPV.
A paultan.org article confirms that in December this year the new generation Daihatsu Xenia will be unveiled and we believe that Toyota might take the opportunity to also reveal the same month its own MPV version. The Daihatsu MPV will be based on the DNGA platform. Daihatsu New Global Architecture.
It is interesting that Toyota’s TNGA architecture derives from this platform. Daihatsu was presented at the Gaikindo Indoneia International Car Show and the 2017 GIIAS, followed by Tokyo Motor Exhibition in 2017, on the basis of DN-Multisix’s concept car. The next Daihatsu MPV will be a 3-row, six-seater MPV according to reports in Japan.
It is expected that both cars will be offered with a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that performs duties on the Daihatsu Rocky. With a torque of 140 Nm, this powertrain is good for 98 hours and has a convenient 6-speed transmission. A 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor could also be available.

When it is introduced on the Indonesian market in December this year, the new Toyota Avanza and the new Daihatsu Xenia will compete against the ones such as Honda Freed and Suzuki Ertiga and the XL7. Toyota is not going to bring the new Avanza to the Indian market, but the automaker plans another MPV for the country.
Toyota will probably use its agreement with Maruti Suzuki to launch its own version of the Ertiga besides the Glanza (based on Baleno) and the Urban Cruiser which will soon start operating on the basis of Vitara Brezza. But this news has still to be confirmed by the Japanese carmaker “as read and inspired by a report done by gaadiwaadi”.
