Maruti Suzuki India Limited is all pumped to launch the new generation Ertiga. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga which is one of the most popular cars and was the first vehicle to establish the compact MPV segment in India and went on to become a successful vehicle. Recently Maruti Suzuki has announced more than 500,000 units in India and it has sold of Ertiga in the eight years since the car was first launched in India. The milestone is quite significant for a car of its proportions as at a time when Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) have been largely branded as bulky and bungling, the Eritga has emerged quite the Most-Valuable Player (MPV).
Based on the light weight Heartect architecture, the upcoming Ertiga has bigger proportions allowing for more interior room with additional safety. Since its launch in 2012, MarutiSuzuki Ertiga has come with a range of new features, more space and fresh design.

MARUTI SUZUKI ERTIGA DESIGN:
The Maruti Suzuki has a fresh design and it just takes a short glance to realise this and most highlight is the front look, which looks straight out of a car and looks good. While the Ertiga will remain largely the same to look with larger proportions and incorporated some exterior changes to the MPV is chrome studded grille is a first for this price-segment and has been done successfully to give the vehicle a premium look. The Maruti Ertiga side look shows the grille on either side with sleek headlamp units and with projectors that not only bring some sharpness to the design for the Maruti Ertiga with the stylish design but provide good illumination as well. The stylish design and look, tie all these up with a new hood and smart looking bumper.
MARUTI SUZUKI ERTIGA EXTERIOR:
The new Maruti Ertigawhich leaves a long impression on your eyes and that’s because it is longer than its predecessor. Maruti Ertiga with sharp lines on the boot lid and the bumper compliment the overall design further and make the new Ertiga a good look from the front and rear. More over the strong shoulder line which are running from the tail lamp up to the front accentuates of the side, the length and the new alloy wheels also play a considerable part in offsetting the visual fatigue of length of the new Maruti Ertiga. Hence the Ertiga is similar to Volvo SUVs but that’s only a good thing on a Maruti which makes the look more stylish design. Similar to the front, the rear is completely new and it’s the vertically-stacked tail lamps that take the centre stage here.
The New Maruti Suzuki with the biggest change in terms of design and Ertiga is the fact that it no longer is a bland-looking MPV. As it looks younger, smart appealing, which should make it appealing to young buyers, something the previous Ertiga wasn’t good at.
MARUTI ERTIGA PRICE:
The Ertiga in this generation is getting an automatic transmission option with the petrol motor. Maruti to undercut the competition expect price wise, and this ensure that Ertiga continues to be the India’s best-selling MPV, with the petrol variant expected to start at around the cost of Rs 7 lakh where the top-trim with the Petrol motor is expected to cost around the cost of Rs 10 lakh in the ex-showroom. Also has the Diesel variants which are likely to be priced between the cost of Rs 8 and 10 lakh.
MARUTI SUZUKI ERTIGA CABIN:
The first thing that strikes you is how the interior of the Ertiga looks from inside and the cabin of the new Ertiga which you expect it – all new. The new Ertiga gets a beige and dark brown two-tone combination across the dashboard, intersected by a good looking wood finish. Coming to AC vents which too have been given an effect of running across the dashboard, creating visual differences from other Maruti Vehicles. The new Ertiga also gets a flat bottom steering wheel that is wrapped in leather and behind that, an all-new instrument cluster too and the seats with the slightly printed pattern on the seats, overall the effect is quite satisfactory.
MARUTI SUZUKI ERTIGA INTERIOR:
The central console houses the touchscreen Smartplay infotainment system is the same as we’ve seen in other Maruti cars and the touchscreen is easy to use and responsive. All of us are now pretty used to this particular setup and it is one of the better ones offered on a model today. The large touchscreen and the flat-bottom steering wheel is also a first for the Ertiga which comes with the audio and phone controls and this Ertiga which has its own inbuilt navigation system.
The Ertiga is the top spec model which gets climate control and also a start stop button and another cool feature literally are the cooled or rather ventilated bottle/zup holders (as seen below). The interior space of the new Ertiga and this being a new platform brings in a whole lot more space in it than before.
The big improvement is the space in the last row. As the last gen car had an Achilles heel in terms of people fitting in, this new Ertiga with longer and wider on the outside and that gives it more space on the inside too. Though the wheelbase stays the same and moreover the new Ertiga gets the more space in the back of the engine compartment which has moved slightly forward. As well as the centre row seats are also much more comfortable as Storage space has been integrated smartly throughout the cabin, adding to convenience of front and rear passengers compared to the previous generation and as with the last gen car, there is a roof mounted air conditioner unit.
The legroom in the middle row is the same as the older model but what has changed is the width. In fact the headroom too is generous and adds more comfort and convenience at the rear and it is twice as large as compared to the previous model and that is an important feat. The Ertiga’s boot also has two panels that can be manually removed and if you are buying a seven-seater there will a lot more space in the the third-row could mean a lot to you but for most of the MPVs this is a weak point but things are somewhat better in the Ertiga and the best thing here is that folding the middle row and pushing forward just takes the flip of one lever. The final row of seats also gets a reclining option while headroom might be a slight issue, leg room and flat floor makes up for it.
MARUTI SUZUKI ERTIGA ENGINE AND GEARBOX:
The new Ertiga terms of engine and gearbox, the biggest change in the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the inclusion of a new 1.5 litre petrol engine, which we saw making its debut in new Ciaz. It is in a similar state of tune. It develops 104 hp and 138 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki India today introduced a powerful 1.5-litre DDIS 225 Diesel Engine with 6-speed manual transmission in the NextGen Ertiga. The latest 1.5 Litre DDIS 225 4-cylinder diesel engine is developed in-house to deliver enhanced performance.. This engine also comes with the updated SHVS technology, which we saw in Ciaz and this which comes with the lithium-ion battery by which results in higher output and efficiency. The system stores braking energy and it uses it back at the time of acceleration which Maruti Suzuki terms as a Torque Assist. This results in improved fuel-efficiency.
